For you.

Straight talk, no lecture. If something online feels wrong, it's worth listening to that feeling.

Your information is yours

You don't owe anyone online your name, school, location, or photos — no matter how long you've been talking to them or how nice they seem.

"Keep this between us" is a warning sign

If someone you've met online asks you to keep the friendship, the conversation, or anything else secret from your parents or guardians, that's one of the clearest red flags there is — even if nothing about it feels wrong yet.

If someone threatens you (sextortion)

If someone is threatening to share a photo or video of you unless you send money or more images, you are not in trouble, and this is not your fault. Don't pay, and don't send anything else — it rarely makes the threats stop. Tell a trusted adult, or reach out to us directly, even if you're scared to.

What to do right now

  • 1Stop responding to the person threatening or pressuring you.
  • 2Don't delete the conversation — screenshots and messages help us and law enforcement act faster.
  • 3Tell a parent, guardian, school counselor, or any adult you trust. If that feels impossible right now, you can email us directly.
  • 4If an image has already been shared, NCMEC's Take It Down tool can help get it removed from participating platforms.
